Workgroup & Forum Overview
Workgroup & Forum Overview
Workgroups have been described as the "heart and soul" of HTNG, where members collaborate to solve problems which,
by their nature, require cooperation among multiple companies. They are small groups of experts, typically from the hotel and vendor community but sometimes from consulting disciplines, academia, media, or other associations. Workgroups meet regularly to design and implement solutions to specific business or technical problems. Typically, hotel participants represent the requirements of buyers, and and vendors contribute and/or work together to design technology solutions. For additional details and a list of all HTNG workgroups, visit our Workgroups page (a "plain-English" summary is available as a PDF).
A Forum is a meeting place, where HTNG members with similar interests can meet face-to-face to learn and to share information on topics of general interest; coordinate efforts across workgroups in order to maximize reuse and minimize duplication of effort; make personal contacts with potential buyers, sellers, and partners; work together to market the results of workgroup efforts; and address issues that require cross-workgroup coordination. For additional details, including an explanation of the difference between a Workgroup and a Forum, visit our Forums page.

Our current workgroup and forum structure is depicted in this chart. For more information about any of these efforts, visit the Workrgroups or Forums page. Note that the Infrastructure Resource Team and Governance Council are not independent workgroups, but rather are coordinating bodies of their respective Forums, so you will find their information linked from the Forums page.
If you would like to find out more about participating in a workgroup, visit our Participate page. Or, if you are hotelier who wants the solution, but you don't have the time and/or expertise to participate, you can still help provide direction to our workgroups' efforts so they can better meet your needs.
