Michael Blake

Michael Blake is HTNG's Executive Vice President & CEO. He was previously the CIO of Commune Hotels & Resorts, encompassing Joie de Vivre, Thompson, Tommie and Alila Hotels. Michael provided strategic leadership and sound perspective to contribute to the management and evolution of Commune's global IT functions. He previously served as the CIO for Hyatt and set the global technology direction for their global footprint. Michael has over 20 years of experience in finance and technology in various roles. Prior to his CIO roles with Commune and Hyatt, Michael was Senior Vice President of IT for First Data, CFO of IT Finance at Kaiser Permanente and Director of IT Finance for Sears. In each of his roles, he was the highest ranking IT Finance resource and key internal consultant and advisor to international senior leadership teams. Prior to that, Michael held various financial roles within United Airlines including the controller of the IT organization. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah, received his MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and also his MS in Information Technology from Northwestern University. He also maintains several credentials and licenses: CPA, CMA, CISA, CITP and PMP. Michael served as a member of HTNG Board since 2009 and was Treasurer of the board for many of those years.

David Sjolander


As Chief Operating Officer, David is responsible for driving the operational execution of HTNG’s mission. David is a lifelong hotelier with deep background in hotel technology, distribution and operations. He has held senior executive positions with several industry suppliers, such as Pegasus, TravelClick and Fidelio, as well as leading hotel chains Carlson Hospitality and Hyatt. David holds a bachelors degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Denver and an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He also serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the Fritz Knoebel School Of Hospitality Management at the University of Denver.

Sandy Angel

Web Services Architect

Sandy is HTNG’s Web Services Architect with her focus being primarily on the Software Forum Workgroups. She is also currently the Specification Manager for the OpenTravel Alliance and acts as a liaison between the two organizations. Sandy has extensive experience in the hotel industry working for Marriott International for over 20 years holding many different positions within operations, reservations sales and information technology. Sandy graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Restaurant Management. In Sandy’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.


Judy Czarnik
Director of Membership 

As Director of Membership, Judy manages the membership process and provides support to members and prospective members alike. She serves as the key point of contact for members addressing all questions, issues and membership changes. Judy works with prospective HTNG members to understand their business and determine how HTNG membership can best meet their needs. She also works with members on sponsorship and exhibit opportunities at HTNG events. Prior to HTNG, Judy was Sales & Marketing Manager for the Alliance of Audited Media, a media information association and the Associated Press. Judy has significant sales and marketing experience and enjoys delivering valuable solutions to members. She earned a B.S. in Marketing from Northern Illinois University with a minor in Psychology.

Patrick Dunphy


Patrick's responsibilities largely focus on Infrastructure and Device Forum activities and workgroups. In addition to managing the ongoing activities of the forum and workgroups as well as coordinating forum meetings, Patrick is also responsible for managing HTNG’s many internal systems. Patrick holds several Microsoft systems certifications and is familiar with managing systems across distributed networks. In his prior role, Patrick managed IT projects and provided technical support for a suburban Chicago school district, which totaled 25,000 users in 27 different buildings. In his free time, Patrick enjoys reading popular fiction and improving his technical skills, including Drupal, Microsoft platform operating systems, VMware and network security practices. During the occasional need to unplug, he also enjoys camping, boating and hunting.

Joe Gallo

Manager of Workgroup Operations

Joe joined HTNG in late 2014 as a Manager of Workgroup Operations. Joe's responsibilities focus on facilitating the various workgroups in the Software Forum. He will also be planning and attending the Forum's face-to-face meetings. In his prior professional roles, Joe has been deeply involved in business development, operations and project management; working with diverse teams of cross functional personnel within construction, medical device, supply chain and not-for-profit companies. Joe holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Columbia College, Chicago. When Joe is not busy with his wife and two young boys, he works at developing his non-profit organization that promotes health, wellness and self-development for youth and young adults through outdoor adventure activities.



Dynette Lucas
Finance and Member Services Manager

Dynette provides the daily accounting, reporting and analysis of HTNG financial results reporting directly to the COO. She also contributes to the on-going maintenance of the association’s CRM. Dynette holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from DePaul University with experience in the Airline and Outsourced Customer Care Industries. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, traveling to warmer destinations in the winter and listening to live music.

Katie Mazzuca

Director of Events

Katie manages all meeting logistics regarding HTNG Conferences, Forum Meetings and Board Meetings.  She is responsible for venue selections, contract negotiations, budgeting, catering and on-site event management.  Katie also works with HTNG members to facilitate event registration.  Prior to joining HTNG, Katie worked at an association management company where she managed a team that organized over 50 conferences per year.  Katie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy and a Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame.  In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, performing in community theater and cheering on the Irish.

Hanna Schiller

Senior Marketing Manager

Hanna Schiller is HTNG's Senior Marketing Manager. She comes from TAC, a European technology vendor, where she led sales in the US market. Hanna directs marketing strategy and communications at HTNG by building relationships through designing effectual promotional campaigns, creative messaging and valuable materials for members. Hanna believes defining the future face of hospitality technology requires a focus on conversations and real relationships with members to develop the tools and education that future members will need to compete in a technologically competitive world. Hanna received her Bachelor's degree in International Business from Schiller International University. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, rock climbing and exploring the Chicago food scene.
