Cross-Workgroup Coordinating Bodies
HTNG forums are where workgroups come together. To maximize re-use, to minimize overlap, and to ensure a consistent approach to developing technical artifacts, our forums have created permanent coordinating bodies. These are not workgroups because they are not focused on developing solutions to specific problems, but their roles are critical to the effective functioning of our workgroups. These groups meet regularly by teleconference (every other week or monthly) and focus on a defined set of activities that add value to their forum and to its workgroups.

Governance Council |
This council serves as a critical central point for all software workgroups to review and synchronize their work. It helps minimize any duplication of effort and maximize collaboration and reuse. The Governance Council is responsible for defining documentation standards, XML coding standards, the specification review process, and other elements of HTNG’s software efforts that need to be coordinated across software workgroups. Currently, it is working on streamlining the specification structure and workgroup output, including creating a library of use cases for reuse across workgroups. |

Infrastructure |
This group develops best practices for the deployment of new and existing infrastructure technologies within hospitality as well as the ongoing evaluation of those technologies. Their ultimate goals are to reduce the cost of infrastructure, to provide greater reliability for interfaces to in-room devices, to enable guests to easily connect their own devices, and to provide infrastructure guidelines to support future hotel applications. The group has produced numerous documents describing best practices for converged infrastructures, wireless deployment, gateway management, and other infrastructure elements. It also conducts webinars for all HTNG members on a broad range of hospitality technology infrastructure topics. |
