Fraser
Hickox
General Manager,
Research and Technology, Peninsula
Group Hotels
HTNG Director
Mr. Hickox has spent
21 years with the Peninsula Group,
and established the Technology
Laboratory in Aberdeen, Hong Kong,
where the Peninsula's guest-room
technology is developed and refined
for use exclusively in their
properties. He is responsible for
the refurbishment of the Peninsula
Hotels worldwide. Twenty years ago
he opened Asia's first technology
hotel, the Kowloon Hotel, with a
network system linking all rooms to
a central database and a fax server
enabling their guests the
opportunity of performing business
functions in their guest rooms.
Prior to joining Peninsula, Mr.
Hickox worked in television and
radio broadcasting, at an airline in
Papua New Guinea, for a Japanese
bank, with the Nauruan Government
during the design and installation
of a new country-wide telephone
system, and on a development line in
Taiwan to gain production line
experience. Mr. Hickox was awarded
a Ph.D. for his efforts in radio
physics. He holds a number of
accreditations from various
institutions and is a Director of
the China Light & Power Research
Institute. His interests are in
his vintage cars, flying light
aircraft and anything to do with
steam power. |

Rosemary Jay
Partner, Pinsent Masons
Rosemary Jay is a Partner in the
Outsourcing, Technology & Commercial
Group and National Head of
Information Law at Pinsent Mason's
law firm in the United Kingdom.
The Information Law team is one of
the largest and most experienced
providing advice, representation,
training and consultancy on all
privacy, confidentiality, data
protection, access and related
information law issues to public
bodies, multi-nationals and private
organisations. Rosemary has 20
years experience of advising
organisations on information law
issues including 12 years spent as
head of Legal at the British Office
of the Data Protection Registrar.
Rosemary is the co-author of 'Data
Protection Law & Practice' published
by Sweet & Maxwell (second edition
August 2003) and an editor of the
'White Book.' She is on the
Editorial Board of the Journal of
Freedom of Information and an editor
of the Encyclopaedia of Data
Protection. She sits on the
Examination Committee of the ISEB/BCS
Data Protection Certificate Board
and is a member of the Ministerial
Advisory User Group on access
rights. She has worked with the
Council of Europe and the European
Commission on privacy issues in
Europe and the Commonwealth
Secretariat in West Africa. She has
spoken and written widely on data
protection and access to
information, both nationally and
internationally. |

Gary McGraw
CTO, Cigital, Inc.
Gary McGraw is the
CTO of Cigital, Inc., a software
security and quality consulting firm
with headquarters in the Washington,
D.C. area. He is a globally
recognized authority on software
security and the author of six best
selling books on this topic. The
latest, Exploiting Online Games, was
released in 2007. His other titles
include Java Security, Building
Secure Software, Exploiting
Software, and Software Security; and
he is editor of the Addison-Wesley
Software Security series. Dr.
McGraw has also written over 90
peer-reviewed scientific
publications, authors a monthly
security column for darkreading.com,
and is frequently quoted in the
press. Besides serving as a
strategic counselor for top business
and IT executives, Dr. McGraw is on the
Advisory Boards of Fortify Software
and Raven White. His dual Ph.D. is in
Cognitive Science and Computer
Science from Indiana University
where he serves on the Dean’s
Advisory Council for the School of
Informatics. Dr. McGraw is an IEEE
Computer Society Board of Governors
member and produces the monthly
Silver Bullet Security Podcast for
IEEE Security & Privacy magazine. |

Martin Powell
Senior Consultant, The Human Chain
Ltd.
Martin Powell joined the The Human
Chain, the specialised UK-based
Mobile Telecoms Consultancy, in
2007. After working in the IT and
telecommunications industry for over
16 years with a particular focus on
mobile telecoms. Mr. Powell
started his career teaching in Spain
before returning to the UK and
joining Unisys before moving to
Cardkey systems (now part of Johnson
controls). In 1994 he joined
Vodafone where he was responsible
for service provider relationships.
From 1998 to 2001 he led a business
analysis team at Vodafone UK before
moving into Marketing where he was
responsible for delivery of a wide
range of consumer and business
propositions. He then joined the
Vodafone strategy team where was
also responsible for market analysis
and business planning. Since joining
The Human Chain, Mr. Powell has been
working with the hospitality clients
and mobile network operators
identifying, scoping and delivering
guest mobile services including
mobilising existing services,
developing new channels to market
and new mobile services using Near
Field Communications. |

Nick
Price
CIO/CTO, Mandarin
Oriental Hotel Group
Past HTNG President
Nick Price joined
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in
January 2000 as CIO/CTO. A newly
created position, the appointment is
in line with the Group’s objective
of strengthening its corporate and
specialist core competencies in
areas most critical to success.
With more than 19 years experience
in IT and emerging technologies, Mr.
Price brings to Mandarin Oriental an
in-depth understanding of current
and emerging technology trends and
their commercial application. He
reports directly to the Group’s
Managing Director, Edouard Ettedgui.
He joined Mandarin Oriental from
Dairy Farm Group a leading Asian
retailer headquartered Hong Kong,
where, since 1996, he held the
position of Group Technical
Architect, responsible for
technology planning and
infrastructure strategy. Prior to
joining Dairy Farm in 1995, he
worked throughout Europe as an IT
consultant and from 1991 to 1993 as
Technical Director, Europe for UNIX
International. Prior to 1991, Mr.
Price held technical positions with
a number of large systems
manufacturers developing UNIX-based
systems, enterprise networks and
systems software. A British
national, he holds an Honours degree
in Computer Science from University
of Westminster, London, United
Kingdom. At Mandarin Oriental,
he is responsible for a broad range
of digital, or soon-to-be digital
technologies and services, including
traditional hotel IT, enterprise
networks and infrastructure,
Internet presence, PABX and
telephony, hotel networks, in-room
technologies , and audio visual
systems. Mr. Price has a keen
interest in technology and believes
the hotel industry is ready for
change as its customers drive it
towards an ever more
customer-centric and hence
technology-dependent future. |

Simkins
Partner, MTM Luxury
Lodging
James Simkins is a
Partner at MTM Luxury Lodging, a
hotel management company with nine
properties open or under
development. Prior to joining MTM,
Mr. Simkins had a distinguished
international career that spanned
four continents with Westin Hotels &
Resorts. He rose to Vice President,
Operations of Westin International
Asia Pacific, and opened the $620
million Westin Tokyo as Managing
Director in 1994, while supervising
the Westin Osaka and later opening
the Westin Sydney. Mr. Simkins was
acknowledged in 1996 by Leaders
magazine as one of the world’s
leading Hotel Managers. He holds a
business degree from the University
of South Africa and attended the
University of Witwatersrand, where
he studied (but did not complete)
Civil Engineering. He also has the
AH&LA Institute Diploma and has
lectured in Engineering for
Hospitality Management for that
organization.

Singh

Shiv Singh has been with Avenue A |
Razorfish, one of the largest
interactive marketing and technology
services agencies in the world, since 1999, and has worked
in its Boston, New York, San
Francisco and London offices. Prior
to that he ran a small web
development company. Mr. Singh helps
clients leverage digital
technologies to develop meaningful
and value driven customer and
employee relationships. Most
recently, He founded and led the
Enterprise Solutions practice at
Avenue A | Razorfish. He currently
advises clients in the areas of Web
2.0 and Social Media. A recognized
speaker, Mr. Singh has spoken on
Social Computing and Intranets at
the Office 2.0 Conference, Knowledge
Management World, Portals and

Bryan Steele

Bryan Steele has over 17 years of IT
and business experience gained not
just in the hospitality sector but
also from 19 years with Unilever, a
Blue Chip company, where he held a
number of senior IT and engineering
management roles which included
international assignments. He was
the Director of IT and a
member of the Senior Management Team
at Thistle Hotels, a
£300m company comprising 50 hotels
and 10,500 rooms operating under the
Thistle and Guoman brands; where he
had responsibility for all
Information and Communication
Technology. During this time Mr.
Steele co-founded and chaired the
Micros Fidelio Opera Users Group.
He is an ex HTNG Board member and
currently an Executive Advisor to
the Board. He is also on the
Advisory Board of Lorica Solutions.

Jeremy Ward

Mr. Ward was appointed Chief
Information Officer for JJW Hotels
and Resorts in April 2002. He
brings more than 15 years of
experience in the IT industry to the
position. Prior to his appointment,
he was the Group IT Manager for the
Spescom Group, a leading provider of
Information and Communications
technology to the global market,
where he was responsible for
ensuring continued excellence in
service delivery and technologies
across the Spescom Group of
companies. At JJW Hotels and
Resorts, Mr. Ward has been
fundamental in establishing and
expanding the technology used
throughout the groups hotels,
including applications and solutions
used across the back-office, and the
emergence and convergence of
technologies used for guest facing
solutions.

Dr. Agel has been

He is a member of the Executive
Management Board in the EAME region.
Before joining MICROS he was partner
of ghh consult, focusing on
strategic concepts for the tourism
industry, in particular for hotel
companies, investors, and funding
organizations. He was also

Services, then a Bertelsmann
company. After several years as
Managing Director of Steigenberger
Consulting, Peter served as
President & CEO for SRS-Steigenberger
Reservation Service (now Worldhotels).
Peter started his professional
career as Project Manager with the
German Agency for Technical
Co-operation (GTZ) with engagements
in regional development projects on
the effective use of renewable
energies in West Africa. Peter wrote
his Ph.D. on a town and country
planning topic in Colombo/Sri Lanka.
He has a MA in Geography. Together

Bianchi worked as Director Business

She began her career in the Sales &

Resorts, followed by some years as
Hotel Contracting Manager for DERTOUR, one of the largest tour
operators in Germany. Mrs.
Bianchi is a graduate of the
University of Sao Paulo, Brazil,
where she was born and grew up. She
has lived in Germany since 1991.

Stephen Burke heads

Pvt. Ltd, a New Delhi, India-based
provider of software products, such
as TRITON™ Guest Services System,
that are aimed at enabling high-end
hotels to deliver an exceptional
overall guest experience. Prior to
Knowcross Solutions, Mr. Burke was
the Director of Systems Integration
for Hotel Booking Solutions
Incorporated, working with
distribution and supply interfaces
primarily based in OTA XML. He was
also part of New Orleans-based Hotel
Booking Solutions, LLC, where he
focused on distribution channel and
supply acquisition, as well as
partner management. Mr. Burke has
served in technology management
roles for Diamond Data Systems,
Sprint E-Solutions
and Tulane University. He has
consulted on technology issues with
Fortune 1000 clients such as
Entergy, McDermott International,
SCP Pool, Zen-Noh Grain and Solvay,
S.A. He has previously presented at
industry conferences including HEDNA
and HITEC. He has been active in
HTNG for the last two years, and was
part of team that created the
Property Distribution v1.0
specification, as well as presently
working on the ODX team of Property
Webservices workgroup. Mr. Burke
graduated from Tulane University

Robin Coker

Robin Coker has been involved in
Software design and development
at Amadeus Hospitality (formerly
Hogatex) since 1994. She brings
with her over 30 years of
experience in IT. Before joining
Hogatex, she worked in the
Semiconductor and Life Insurance
industries. She is currently
serving as coordinator of
development to the Amadeus Front

Switzerland, Brigitte has spent the
last 18 years in North America

hospitality companies in a variety
of Operational, Sales & Marketing

Development Executive roles.
A dynamic business leader with over
22 years of broad-based hospitality
experience, her strategic approach
and will to win has proven effective
in driving results in product
development, marketing, operations
and the successful positioning of
hospitality corporations in the
global market place. Prior to
joining PAR Springer-Miller Systems
as General Manager for SpaSoft,
Ms. Diem-Guy was working for the
Toronto Convention and Visitors
Bureau as Corporate Director. She
was responsible for the economic
recovery of the Convention & Meeting
sector post SARS, ensuring
consistent corporate imaging with
related strategic initiatives as
well as positioning the new brand
for Toronto within the international
market place. She has been an
active member in the HTNG Property
Web Services Group, representing SpaSoft
in the Single Guest Itinerary and

Chris Farrar, Ph.D.

Chris Farrar began
his hospitality industry career as a
jack-of-all-trades at a small
family-owned resort lodge in Carmel
Valley, California. After a
successful academic career and
detours through a variety of
companies and industries, Mr. Farrar
found his way back into the hotel
business when he joined Percipia in
1996. As president of Percipia,
Chris is responsible for overall
management of the company,
development of strategic
relationships and executive-level
account management. In previous
positions with the company, he
helped shepherd it from a small,
local telephony company into a
multimillion dollar global supplier
of IP-based telecommunications goods
and services. In this capacity,
Percipia is helping the hotel
industry reap the strategic and
competitive rewards of the
transition to new internet-related
voice communication technologies.

Bill Frizzell

Bill Frizzell works
in Microsoft’s Enterprise Platform
Group (EPG) Commercial Sector
Headquarters, as the Industry
Technology Strategist for the
Hospitality team. He is responsible
for defining and developing a
technical architecture vision and
long term technology roadmap for
Microsoft, essentially shaping the
company’s technical strategy in the
Accommodation, Gaming and
Entertainment, and Food Services
segments. Prior to this role, Bill
has served in various positions
within the Retail & Hospitality
Industry, on the Store Systems team,
and as the Account Technology
Specialist (ATS) for the East Retail
region. Prior to Microsoft, Mr.
Frizzell spent most of his career at
ERIM and Booz Allen & Hamilton on
their National Security Team,
performing Strategic Planning and as
the Senior Scientist for the Imagery
Analysis Division for the National
Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the
National Imagery and Mapping Agency
(NIMA) from 1986-1999. He
subsequently worked as an
independent trainer for IT
certifications, holding fourteen
premium certifications, including
MCSE, MCSD, MCAD, MCDBA, MCT, Oracle
OCP, and Chauncey CTT, and later
served as CIO for Advanced Computer
Technology Training. Mr. Frizzell
subsequently was lead Architect for
the U.S. Department of Labor’s
Active Directory implementation and
standardization on the .NET

Lew J. Harasymiw is the Director of
Interface Solutions for SynXis, the
industry leader in distribution
technology and services. He has
been working in technology since
graduating from Boston College Law
School in 1996. After working for
nearly 4 years as a consultant, Mr.
Harasymiw entered the hospitality
industry and in 2000, became one of
the founding members of hubX Inc. At
hubX he designed and developed all
aspects of the application
architecture including PMS
integration, booking engines, call
center applications, and
administration and content
management tools. After hubX was
acquired by SynXis in 2004, he
continued in his role and was
instrumental in the transition to SynXis's new RedX platform. Shortly
after Sabre Holdings acquired SynXis
in 2005, his focus became centered
on interfaces. Mr. Harasymiw is now
responsible for the planning and
implementation of strategic
partnerships and automation with the
industry's leading booking sites.
More recently he has assumed
responsibility for SynXis's
Technology Partner Program. He is
very active in both HTNG and the
OpenTravel Alliance. He is currently
the co-chair of the OpenTravel
Hospitality Workgroup. He also acts
as the co-chair of the HTNG
Property/Distribution Workgroup
Message Definition Team where he is
collaborating with the other members
on the v2.0 specification. |

Axel Janz
is Hospitality Channel Manager at
SAP AG, based out of Walldorf,
Germany. Axel started with SAP in
1991 and throughout his career he
held various positions at SAP AG,
SAP Japan, SAP Hosting and SAP
Germany. Axel is working with SAP's
various country organizations to
set-up sales-partner channels for
the hospitality industry. Axel
received a BA in Computer Science
from the Mannheim University of
Applied Sciences back in 1991 and he

Dayna L. Kully has
over 25 years of experience in
sales, channel development,
marketing and senior level
management, specializing in
telecommunications technology for
the hospitality and healthcare
markets. As Senior Director,
Strategic Accounts and Wireless
Carriers at MobileAccess, a leading
distributed antenna system provider,
Miss Kylly is also responsible for
the hospitality vertical. Prior to
MobileAccess, she was the Vice
President, Sales and Marketing for
IP3, a broadband gateway supplier
specializing in the hospitality
market. Early in her career, Miss
Kully held sales management
positions at Pacific Bell and AT&T.
She also successfully managed sales,
technical and operations teams at
GE/RCA and Williams Communications,
later joining Nortel Networks'
emerging optical and access group.
She later went on to become Vice
President of Hospitality Divisions
at both Everest Broadband and Mitel
Networks. Prior to leading
successful broadband divisions at
Everest Broadband and Mitel
Networks, Miss Kully co-founded
Brautovich/Kully, a product
marketing firm offering immediate,
expert assistance in the strategic
marketing of telecommunications
products to companies such as US
WEST, Hitachi, Northern Telecom and
Fujitsu. Miss Kully holds a
Bachelor's degree with honors in
Economics from the University of
California at Berkeley. |

Natasha
Nelson

Property Web Services Workgroup
Ms. Nelson's primary
responsibilities include overseeing
selection and deployment of
strategic applications for both the
hotel and residential side of the
business worldwide, as well as
critical path management and
implementation of computer systems
and networks for all opening hotels.
Her hospitality career has included
hotel management positions with
Radisson in reservations and front
office and in accounting and MIS at
one of Four Seasons’ Chicago
properties prior to moving to Four
Seasons Corporate office in
Toronto. Joining Four Seasons’
Corporate Marketing department in
2000, she led the implementation of
a company-wide Customer Information
System. She then played a key role
in implementing a new CRS with the
Company’s first two way interface
between the properties and the
worldwide reservations office. She
then moved to the Corporate MIS
department to take up her current
role. Since transferring to
the corporate office, her
responsibilities have included
deployment and implementation of new
generations of Property Management
Systems, various CRM initiatives,
Financial Back Office Systems, Rapid
Response Systems, Point of Sale
Systems, Leisure Management Systems
and Residential Management
Systems. Ms. Nelson holds a Masters
degree in Economics from Plekhanov
Russian Academy for Economics. |

Ms. Nerger has been
engaged in the technology and
hospitality industries for the past
25 years. As a writer and
consultant, she has published
several articles on subjects ranging
from legacy application
modernization, CRM in the gaming
industry, to the use of satellite
communications onboard cruise ships.
She has worked on a number of new
hotel projects, including the
opening of The Borgata in Atlantic
City and the Sands (Venetian) in
Macau. Ms. Nerger worked
internationally with Pan Pacific
Hotels, KPMG Consulting and Royal
Caribbean Cruise lines, before
assuming her current position as
Vice President of Technology, The
Americas, for Mandarin Oriental
Hotels. In her current role she
oversees regional responsibilities
for technology in Mandarin’s hotels
in New York, Washington, Miami,
Bermuda, San Francisco, as well as
new developments under construction
in Las Vegas, Cancun, Costa Rica,
Turks and Caicos, Boston, Dallas,
and Chicago. She holds a
Masters Degree in Business as well
as an undergraduate degree in
Computer Science, and is a member of
Beta Gamma Sigma. |

Greg Pasetta

Chair, Media Content Team - HTNG
In-Room Technology Workgroup
With more than 20
years experience, Greg Pasetta has
worked in all facets of the
television and media industry from
content creation to distribution. As
COO of Tangerine Global, he is
responsible for the technology and
operations of the company. Mr.
Pasetta started his career in live
and variety television working on
the largest television shows,
including: The Academy Awards, Emmy
Awards, Full House and over 30 other
series and specials. He has managed
and operated many companies,
including: TVN Entertainment, Alyna
Media and NetSmart. While at TVN,
he created a satellite distribution
and asset management system that
today is the main VOD content
delivery platform for the cable
industry serving content to over 30M
households. Mr. Pasetta's extensive
background in HDTV started in 1991,
working on early HDTV productions
and building an HDTV facility in
1993. For many years, he also
served as an advisor to the Board of
Directors of DePfa Bank, one of the
largest banks in Germany.

Tom Pullen
Vice President of IP
Video-on-Demand, Guest-Tek
Mr. Pullen is
responsible for Guest-Tek’s global
IPTV and IP-VOD businesses. Tom
manages the video technology
development strategy, product
features and functionality,
Hollywood studio relationships, as
well as, the video products’ global
sales. Under Tom’s direction,
Guest-Tek delivered the first IPTV
solution to the hospitality market
in North America in November 2005
and Guest-Tek has partnered with the
Peninsula Hotels Group to become its
global hospitality IP-VOD provider.
Tom joined Guest-Tek in January 2005
after three years with General
Dynamics Interactive (GDI) as its
Director of Strategic Alliances. At
GDI, Tom was the top sales and
business development executive. He
facilitated the development of the
first high-definition IP-VOD
solution in the hotel marketplace
which was deployed in November 2003
at the Mandarin Oriental New York
City and subsequently in the Wynn
Las Vegas Resort. Prior to GDI, Tom
was the Vice-President of Sales and
Corporate Development at NxTV where
he led the sales team and
established long-term deals with the
Four Seasons and St. Regis hotel
brands. Tom holds an M.B.A. in
Strategy & Marketing from the
Anderson School at U.C.L.A. and a
Bachelor of Arts in Political
Science with honors from Tufts
University. |

Douglas Rice

Next Generation
Mr. Rice is a founder
of Hotel Technology Next Generation
(HTNG), and became its first
permanent Executive Director in
September 2004, and assumed his
current position in January 2007.
Mr. Rice reports to HTNG's board of
directors. His prior
experience includes ten years as
President of Stratus Management
