Europe’s pre-eminent journalist and editor in the field of hotel innovations and technologies (and active HTNG member), Richard Barnes, takes us on a trip to the hotel room of the future... Not as seen through his eyes, but as related by some of the world’s top designers and thought leaders. We are in the midst of a profound mutation, and in the hotel sector, those who are able to grasp this will be ahead of the game in coming years.

HTNG Workgroup Overview:  Architecture

The co-chair of HTNG's Architecture workgroup will provide an overview of efforts to produce an industry reference architecture.  This project, recognized by both ComputerWorld Magazine and The Open Group as a groundbreaking effort in technology design, promises to enable hotels and vendors to deploy more nimble, flexible systems with less pain and cost.

HTNG Workgroup Overviews

HTNG's workgroups are the driving force in creating simpler, less expensive integration.  Three HTNG workgroups will outline their efforts and present key solutions that hotels and vendors alike can use today and in the near future.  The In-Room Technology workgroup addresses technology within the guestroom, and the infrastructure to deploy it.  The two Distribution related workgroups deal with interfaces for transactional reservation processing as well as for managing content published to distributors and destination web sites.

The Technology Behind the City of Dreams

The CIO for Melco Crown Entertainment (developer and owner of City of Dreams in Macau) shares his experience on the IT Infrastructure and the various systems employed to support its immediate and future requirements within a complex environment that caters to all business processes and operational needs and goes on to explain how they delivered the dream of convergence within a silo-ed reality. In a project of this magnitude, there are many stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds and business partners from various parts of the world to work with, in addition, this is the First end-to-end IP integrated system of it size and geographical location, providing the Dream Team with some invaluable "lessons learnt".
