Seismic Shifts at the Core It’s a huge undertaking for any hotel company to replace core hotel systems like CRS, PMS, or CRM. The analysis, planning and product selection takes years, and major hotel company CIOs will say little publicly about their company’s thought processes before decisions are final. The past few years may have seemed like the status quo for these systems among the major hotel brands, but seismic changes have been put in motion by industry, technology, and market developments, and CIOs are revisiting long-standing paradigms after many years of inactivity. This session, featuring current and recent CIOs representing hotel companies of varying sizes and types, will explore in-depth the evolving thinking in the CIO suite, what new technologies are emerging from other industries, and what traditional hospitality vendors must do to be relevant in C-Level discussions. Secure Payments Framework Payment card security has been one of the biggest headaches for CIOs since the early days of PCI. Well-publicized breaches of hotels reached an epidemic level in 2010-11 as hotel companies of all sizes struggled with the complexity of achieving PCI compliance across a broad network of distribution partners, brands, and franchisees. HTNG's new Secure Payments Framework, to be published in early February 2013, offers approaches to vastly simplifying the problem and reducing the cost of compliance. The result of more than a year of effort by leading security experts from the global hotel community is a vendor-agnostic approach to eliminating the risk from storage of payment card data from hotels. Hear from some of the key architects how and why it works - and what leading QSAs think about it.Marc Bayerkohler - Security Consultant, Trustwave |
