This session is open to qualified senior hotel IT executives only; limit 2 per company.

There is no advance agenda for this session. At the outset, participants will identify and prioritize areas of greatest interest to them, then moderators will organize roundtable discussions for 60-90 minutes each on the top three or four areas. Past topics have included:

New Technology Spotlight:  Passive Optical Networks

Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON or just PON) is a newer technology that is rapidly finding application, and return on investment, in hotels. It is capable of distributing large amounts of bandwidth to guestrooms with few active components (such as switches), and with fiber costs coming down and copper going up, the costs can be very attractive. This session will explore the technology, including some real-life examples of deployment in hotels.

Making PCI into Somebody Else's Problem

It is common for hotels striving for PCI compliance to focus on the many controls listed in the PCI DSS. This is a distraction from what should be the real goal: avoiding the need for compliance entirely. This talk examines the methods and technologies that can be used to remove payment card data from the hotel’s information systems and thus negate the need for PCI.
