Executive Advisors

Executive Advisors are appointed annually by the Board of Directors and serve as nonvoting advisors to the Board.  They attend board meetings, serve on many board-appointed committees, and may act as board liaisons for HTNG workgroups.

John Burns
President, Hospitality Technology Consulting

John Burns established Hospitality Technology Consulting to help hotels and other travel companies deal successfully with electronic travel distribution in May 1992. Burns is a Co-Founder of HTNG. In 2006, he was inducted into the HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame. That year he also received the International Society of Hospitality Consultants’ Pinnacle Award. Burns began his hotel management career at university conference centers before he moved to Hyatt as a Director of Sales in Vancouver and then at Hyatt HQ in Chicago. From there he moved to THISCO (now Pegasus Solutions) as its VP-Product Development, and then moved to technology-innovator INTRICO. He also worked as Director of Reservations at Ramada, Inc., then later became Director of Property Systems Support.

Dr. Daniel Connolly
Dean, College of Business and Public Administration
Drake University

Dr. Daniel Connolly is dean of the College of Business and Public Administration at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a recognized thought leader in the area of hospitality information technology. His teaching, research, and consulting interests focus on the strategic application of information technology and electronic commerce for business advantage. He frequently presents his work at academic and industry conferences around the world and has authored or co-authored numerous publications. His book Technology Strategies for the Hospitality Industry (now in its second edition) is the industry's first book on technology strategy. Prior to joining Drake, Dr. Connolly served on the faculties of several major universities including the University of Denver, Michigan State University, and Virginia Tech, where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in information technology, strategic management, finance, and hospitality administration. Before joining academia, Dr. Connolly spent nearly 8 years working at Marriott International's corporate headquarters as an information systems analyst. In addition, he has consulted with numerous organizations in the hospitality, health care and technology sectors, and has more than 10 years of experience in hotel and restaurant operations.

Guilain Denisselle

Guilain Denisselle is co-Founder of TendanceHotellerie.fr, a webzine dedicated to the French Hospitality community. TendanceHotellerie.fr also provides educational sessions to the industry through conferences and workshops. Mr. Denisselle is the Founder and CEO of Hotel Conseil, a hotel consultancy company, where he has worked since June 2001. The company's main domain of activities includes distribution, marketing, and related technologies for the hospitality and travel markets. Mr. Denisselle was also a Co-Founder of Must Limousines, a private limousine services company. He organized, chaired and spoke about Hospitality & Travel at numerous conferences in France and in the UK.

 
Larry Hall

Managing Director, Trillium Services Group, LLC

Trillium Services Group, LLC, founded in 1995 by Larry Hall, provides advisory services to firms that operate in the global hospitality & travel technology industries. Services include product and growth strategies, managing innovation, mergers & acquisitions, organizing for effectiveness, and venture capital funding and exits. Throughout his career, provided advisor services to many of the largest firms in the industry as well as numerous venture-backed firms.Prior to dedicating his full attention to Trillium in 2015, Larry served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Springer-Miller Systems, Inc., the leading provider ofintegrated, guest-centric hospitality management solutions to hotels, resorts, spas and casinos worldwide. Following an eight-year career at Springer-Miller Systems that included new product introductions, global expansion, and a reorganization, Larry led the turn-around and eventual sale of the company. Other roles included the President & Chief Executive Officer of HBSi, President & Chief Executive Officer of Prosero, President & Chief Executive Officer of hsupply, President & Chief Operating Officer of Talus, and Director, Hotel Systems & Telecommunications Worldwide for The Sheraton Corporation.

Fraser Hickox
Managing Director, The Conceptual Group
Former Board Member, HTNG

Until recently the General Manager of the Peninsula Group's research Lab in Hong Kong, Fraser in retirement remains a consultant to Peninsula and other companies around Asia and in the Middle East as well continues to develop specialized electronics for different companies. A keen advocate of HTNG and the participation of hoteliers within this organization for a common good. Fraser was inducted into the HFTP Hall of Fame in 2008 and is the recipient in December 1993 of the Personnalite de Lannee Distinction International Hotellerie. He holds a number of degrees in Engineering and Sciences and has had a diverse career spanning broadcasting, civil aviation, banking and manufacturing.

 
Ted Horner
Managing Director, E. Horner & Associates Pty. Ltd.

After graduating with formal qualifications in Catering & Hotel Management from Victoria University in 1976, Ted was involved in the establishment of several companies specializing in supplying technology for the hospitality industry. In 1989, he launched a Consulting Practice specializing in Technology Consulting to the Hospitality Industry which is now recognized as the leader in the Australian market. In 2005 he was awarded his first consulting assignment in Dubai with Jumeirah. In 1995, he launched the first newsletter dedicated to technology in the Hospitality Industry, HTR this was then replaced in 2002 with the launch of Australia's first hospitality technology portal site. In August 1996, he launched the first dedicated Australian Hospitality Technology Conference and Exhibition held in Sydney. In 2004 he was the first non US person to be elected to the HITEC Technology Hall of Fame for his contribution to the advancement of technology in the hospitality industry. In 2002 he was one of the founders of HTNG and is now an executive advisor.

 
Dayna Kully
Co-Founder, 5thGenWireless

Dayna has over 35 years of experience in sales, channel development, marketing and senior level management, specializing in technology for the hospitality market. Dayna is a co-founder and partner in 5thGenWireless, a consultancy specializing in hospitality technology and strategic investment planning for everything wireless and in-room entertainment. Dayna has held leadership roles in numerous companies specializing in hospitality technology, including VP, Hospitality Business Development for Enseo, a digital media solutions firm; Sr. Director Vertical Business Development at Corning MobileAccess, a leading distributed antenna system provider; VP, Sales and Marketing for IP3, a broadband gateway supplier. Early in her career, Dayna successfully managed sales, technical and operations teams at GE/RCA and Williams Communications, later joining Nortel Networks' emerging optical and access group. Dayna later went on to lead successful broadband divisions as VP of Hospitality at both Everest Broadband and Mitel Networks. Prior to this, Dayna co-founded Brautovich/Kully, a product marketing firm offering expertise in the strategic marketing of telecommunications products. Dayna is actively engaged in HTNG, currently serves as Co-Chair as the Infrastructure Resource Team and has helped spawn multiple workgroups on topics such as Cellular, Wi-Fi, Central Authentication and Fiber-to-the-Room. Dayna holds a Bachelor's degree with honors in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Nick Price
CEO, NetSys Technology
Former Director and President, HTNG

Nick Price is CEO of NetSys Technology a software development and technology consulting company focussing on the hospitality and travel sectors. Prior to starting NetSys in mid-2011, Nick worked for twelve years as Chief Information and Technology Officer at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group where he was instrumental in moving the hotel industry’s technology focus from the front desk to the guest room. Nick is an inductee in the HFTP (Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals) Hall of Fame, a co-founder and past-president of HTNG (Hotel Technology Next Generation) and a board member of Swisscom Hospitality Services. Nick, a UK national, is a global traveller and has lived in Hong Kong since 1995.

Kevin Quinlivan
Kevin Quinlivan was in the newly created position of Chief Information Officer of Delaware North Companies, a global leader in hospitality and food service. With more than $2 billion in annual revenue and 55,000 employees, it is one of the largest privately held companies in the world. Quinlivan had responsibility for information systems, infrastructure services, information technology (IT), project and relationship management, operations support and information security and oversaw Delaware North’s IT Department of more than 50 professionals. He came to Delaware North with global IT experience from companies such as Digital Equipment Corporation, Quantum Corporation, Schick Wilkinson Sword, where he served as Vice President/Chief Information Officer, and Norwegian Cruise Line, where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He is a graduate of Worcester State College with a master’s degree in computer science.

 
Terence Ronson
Managing Director, Pertlink Limited, Manila

Terence Ronson launched his diversified hospitality career as a Chef, from where he held various general management positions with prominent hotels in the UK and Asia. In the mid 80's he developed his penchant for technology, and in 2000 started Pertlink, from where he became the Technology Editor for HOTELS Asia Pacific and authored numerous industry related articles. CNN's eBizasia program featured him in 2001 for his innovative work at Rosedale Hong Kong, and helped Langham Place Hong Kong win many accolades for its technology deployment. Terence has spoken at several key industry events and currently sits on the Advisory Boards for HOFEX and HITEC 2010, as well as holding a Visiting Lecturer position at HKPOLY U. Terence moderates an online discussion group for in-room technology at: www.wiwih.com and also runs a Hotel Technology Blog. Terence is currently involved in several exciting China based projects to include TANGULA the luxury train that will run from Beijing to Lhasa, Thistle/Guoman Hotels projects located in Malaysia and China, and Zendai Himalayas Hotels (Shanghai) scheduled to open in 2010.

 
Riko van Santen

VP Digital Strategy and Distribution, Kempinski Hotels
Former Director and Vice-President, HTNG

Riko is based at Kempinski's headquarters overseeing the Distribution, E-Commerce, Revenue Management, and Loyalty disciplines. From 2009 to 2012 Riko oversaw 1,100 properties under 7 brands, as Vice President Distribution and E-Commerce at Louvre Hotels Group, a Starwood Capital company based in Paris. Accomplishments include the first hotel brand website to use RSS technology, Mobile-Device distribution and pioneering the implementation of modern GDS functionalities and channel management solutions. He was appointed Director of Electronic Distribution in 2003 and VP of Electronic Distribution & ICT for the Golden Tulip & TOP International Group in 2007.  Early in his career, after working in various rooms division functions, Riko joined Pegasus Solutions in 2000 as Golden Tulip Group Revenue Manager. Riko speaks at various hotel schools and industry events on Electronic Distribution and Revenue Management, and has served on HTNG Board of Directors, HFTP EHTEC Advisory Council, Pegasus Solutions Customer Advisory Board, and HSMAI Europe's Digital Marketing Advisory Board. Riko graduated with an honours degree in Hospitality Management from Middlesex University, London, and holds a degree in Japanese business studies and various software administration qualifications. A Dutch national, Riko was born in Tokyo but has lived over 20 years abroad, he now resides in Geneva, Switzerland with wife Christel and two sons.

 
Prakash V. Shukla

Managing Partner, Wayfare Ventures
Former Director, HTNG

Prakash is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of general management, finance, technology and entrepreneurial experience. Prakash is a managing partner with seed firm Solarex LLC (family office). Before that he was a partner with HGM asset management (PE fund) and was a 2013 advanced leadership fellow at Harvard University. He served senior vice president and CIO of TAJ group of hotels from 1999-2012. With a background in some of the industry's most venerable corporations - Unisys / Sperry and IBM, Prakash has provided solutions for numerous corporations and financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Paine Webber and Solomon Smith Barney. In addition, Prakash was an early investor and a board member of Speech & Software Technologies, TravelGuru and Transerv. Prakash is a graduate of Rutgers University with degrees in Electrical Engineering and English, and New York Polytechnic University with a master's degree in Computer Science. He attended the advanced management program at Harvard Business School and was 2013 advanced leadership fellow at Harvard University. He was an active board member of HFTP and has served on HTNG's board. Prakash was inducted into HFTP "International Hall of Fame" for his contributions to the hospitality industry, and has served on Microsoft hospitality advisory board.

 
Bryan Steele
Founder and Managing Director, Jireh-Tek Limited

Bryan Steele is the Founder and Managing Director of Jireh-Tek Limited, an IT consultancy with specific expertise in the hospitality sector. He has over 20 years of international IT and business experience. For the last two years Bryan held an interim role as the Director of IT at the Royal Automobile Club, a prestigious private members club, where he oversaw an extensive IT transformation programme which addressed infrastructure, applications and data architecture, a digital transformation programme including a new mobile responsive website and building an IT team to deliver and provide ongoing support of the systems and users. Since 2014 Bryan has been a Governor or Executive Adviser to HTNG's Board. Also, he is a Director of HOSPA, the Hospitality Professionals Association, and chairs its IT Committee and is a member of HFTP's HITEC Advisory Board. Previously, Bryan was the Director of IT at Thistle & Guoman Hotels, and a founding member and chairman of the Micros Fidelio Opera User Group.

 
Todd Thompson
Chief Information Officer, doTERRA
Former CIO, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.
Former President & Director, HTNG

Todd Thompson is Chief Information Officer of Vivint, a provider of home automation solutions. He was formerly CIO at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide from 2006 to 2012. In this role, Todd was responsible for company-wide information technology projects and operations, spanning all systems, networks, servers, data centers, desktops and devices. During most of his tenure at Starwood, Todd served on HTNG’s Board of Directors, including two years as President from 2009 to 2011. Prior to joining Starwood in November, 2006, Todd was CIO for JetBlue Airways where he was responsible for companywide IT projects and operations and led improvements to all major customer- and "crewmember"-facing systems. Earlier in his career Todd led Intermountain West consulting practices for both SBI.Razorfish and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and was an IT Director at Nu Skin and a Senior Consultant for Andersen Consulting. Todd has more than 20 years of IT experience with expertise in technology, business processes and project/program management. Todd has applied this experience to a variety of industries and areas. Todd received a BS, Computer Science in 1992 and an MBA in 1999 from Brigham Young University. He lives in Provo, UT with his wife Julie and six children.
